Having Fun with Leaves
With autumn here and so many leaves about, we’ve put together some of our favourite fun with leaves activities you can do with your children – and they’ll be learning at the same time!
Pictures – collect some different sized and shaped leaves, spread them out underneath a piece of paper and use waxed crayons to make colourful leaf rubbings
Different trees – how is an oak leaf different from a horse chestnut leaf? Are they different shapes and colours? Is one smaller or larger than the other?
Sorting and counting – ask the children to collect as many leaves as they can and then count them. They can also sort them into different sizes, shapes or colours
Make them grow – use a magnifying glass to look closely at the leaves, can you see the veins? What else can you see?
